عَذَّبَ \ affict: to cause pain or trouble to. tantalize: (to make (sb.) desire sth. that he can see but cannot have: The fruit on our neighbour’s trees is tantalizing my son. torment: to annoy cruelly; cause suffering to: You shouldn’t torment a helpless animal. torture: to cause (sb.) to suffer violent pain in the body or the mind: The prisoner was tortured by his enemies until he told them what they wanted to know.
